Are You Aware of These Changes to NW Scheme Management?

Dear Resident

I recently invited you to nominate your Scheme’s representative to attend our online AGM on 6th October. I realise you may still be in the process of arranging this, but while checking for replies, I noticed that you haven’t logged into your NW account for some time. As there have also been a number of recent system changes that you may not be aware of, please take a few moments to read about these changes below and use the information to make sure all local members are connected to your Scheme. You currently have 1 potential new member showing for your scheme.

I also look forward to hearing who will be representing your Scheme at the online AGM. We’d really appreciate your support with this.

The AGM message was sent on 7th September. While you’re logged into your NW account, as described below, you can find a copy of the message in your inbox. Simply select Messages from the top menu bar and scroll through your messages in date order until you reach those sent on 7th September.

NEW WAY TO LOGON

IDENTIFYING POTENTIAL NEW SCHEME MEMBERS

Here's how it works

Log into your account: https://members.ourwatchmember.org.uk using your registered email address

You no longer need to remember a password, the system sends a one-time logon link to your registered email account

Go to your Scheme Members page by clicking on the Neighbourhood Watch Tools option on the menu bar, then Manage Schemes from the drop down options, and finally, the People icon next to your scheme name.

Scroll to the bottom of the page. If there are people registered on the system who live within your scheme boundary but are not yet members, you'll see how many are eligible.

Click Invite Eligible Members.

The system will automatically send them an email inviting them to join your scheme.

What happens next?

The person receiving the invitation will be given three options:

Join the scheme

If they choose to join, they'll automatically become a member of your scheme and you'll receive an email confirming they've joined as a result of your invitation.

Not yet

If they decide now isn't the right time, you'll receive an email letting you know. The system will automatically pause any further invitations to that person for 3 months, giving them some space before they can be invited again.

No thanks

If they decide they don't want to join your scheme, you'll receive an email to let you know. The system will automatically prevent further invitations for 12 months, after which they'll become eligible to receive another invitation if appropriate.

Remember: If someone lives within your scheme area, they can choose to join at any time. If they do, you'll automatically receive an email letting you know they've become a member.

Other improvements

We've also made some changes to help ensure schemes accurately reflect the communities they serve.

People will no longer be able to automatically join a scheme if they don't live within its boundary.

If someone would still like to join a scheme outside their area, they can submit a request.

As the Coordinator, you'll be able to review the request and decide whether to accept or decline it.

These changes help ensure Neighbourhood Watch schemes remain local, relevant and community-focused, while still giving Coordinators the flexibility to welcome members where appropriate.
